The Megatones return to the scene of the crime from our sold-out shows last year, with a boatload of new tunes, originals and special guests. We will be giving away demo CD's of the band's latest recordings, signed posters and more. So celebrate with us in heart of the summer time... PLEASE NOTE: THIS SHOW IS NOW SOLD OUT.
04/09 - NEW CLUB IN PLEASANTON SATURDAY NIGHT. COME SEE US AT THE MAIN STREET BREWERY! After our crab feast at the IDES in Half Moon Bay, we played Lauriepalooza at Pasa Tiempo near Santa Cruz for our favorite DJ Laurie Roberts, harmonica king Mark 'Fenny' Fenichel and Greg Stone, recently departed from KFOX . Your boys performed along side Greg Kihn, with Tiran Porter and Dale Ockerman of Doobie Brothers fame, as well as a host of other bay area luminaries from Robert Berry to the Groove Kings, the White Albumn Ensemble and the Sun Kings. What a blast! Check out the photo album of the event.
01/09 - First of all, the Megatones want to thank our friends for such a great 2008, we appreciate you coming out all year... This fall fun was had by all, including a performance on the main stage of the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin fest. In December the boys headlined the KFOX Can Jam, a great event to help out the Second Harvest Food Bank, with special guests the 2008 Last Band Standing winners. Coming up early in '09 we have added a new club for our east bay connections, the Main Street Brewery in Pleasanton. Look for us there April 4th.
10/08 - Great shows at the local festivals including the Mountain View Art and Wine as well as the San Jose Tapestry Festival. Harry learns to duck whenever drunk patrons approach the stage. April Update - Megatones on TV!! The Megatones taped two television episodes of show Makin' Music, with Jack Van Breen this week. It was our first time inside a real TV studio, a bit intimidating at first. We were joined by our favorite harmonica player Mark 'Fenny' Fenichel for some tunes, and then joined him for a second taping focusing on his art!
The first is airing Thursday, April 3rd at 7:00 pm on Comcast channel 15. The second will show Thursday, April 10th. Check it out!
04/08 - These are the days of the great venue. Thanks to all you, we started by playing an sold out show at the Little Fox with our brothers-in-rockin-arms Mamaluke and TinMan, what a great time. Impressed by all the Mamaluke north bay fans as well for making the trek, we will do it again. Got up at the end with TinMan for a chorus of Roadhouse, big fun! Thanks to our friend Dan Powers (www.danpowersphoto.com), pics of the event can be found here.
The next day we were up and driving to AT&T park, that fabulous ball field where the Giants play, to play a new kind of party that took over the entire club level. After set up, the band got to relax in the lux suite right behind home plate, sippin' cold ones and watching the sun set while the ncaa's played... we could get used to this! Sunset, full moon rise over McCovey cove, Jumbo-tron with videos and the big green coke bottle... what a view. The gang danced to the bitter end. Kudos to Ryan and all the of AT&T staffers who treated us like VIPs! Pics to follow.
Finally, we rocked out the San Jose Museum of Fine Art, what beautiful galleries, food, music. A fitting end to a great string of shows.
3/08 - Things have gone a bit crazy the first couple of months of this year... Dublin, Aspen, and Tahoe, Los Gatos and Half Moon Bay, with all points in between. 1/2/08 - What a great end to the year... we started with the KFOX Can Jam at the King's Head with fellow Last Band Standing Winners Evolution and Joe. The KFOX staff was there, and a signed guitar with all of the winners and KFOX DJ's was bought by Ralphy for charity... the ultimate souvenir!
Next it was on to St James Gate, where we had a pre Christmas bash with some of our favorite fans. We capped off a great 2007 with a sold out show at the Little Fox with the Sun Kings on New Years Eve, what a blast! Harry's brother and wife were up from GA for the show, we were up first and the crowd was up and dancing from the start. All of the positive response made for one of the best shows ever. For those of you who were there for the first time, thanks for the great support! Kudos to Dave for the superb sound work. After our 90 minute set, we relaxed and enjoyed the Sun Kings, who took us all into the the new year. They played a huge range of Beatles tunes amazingly well.

Will post new music on Megaweb as we complete them.
Megablues at JJ's was a unique blues experience with the Megatones at the nationally renowned blues club JJ's. The band, along with special guests, played a 'National Tour of the Blues', making stops in Texas, New Orleans, Georgia, Chicago, Kansas City.... featuring much of the blues and blues rock that influenced us growing up as musicians, including songs from Muddy Waters, BB King, Clapton, Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray, Johnny Winter, and more! Reviews of a recent Megs gig at JJ's...
"Like throwing me in the Briar Patch"
- Brer Rabbit
"Like letting the fox in the hen house"
- Brer Harry
"I'm just havin' fun with my commie pinko slide guitar"
"Ummm....anybody seen my bass?"
Downtime.... H flies over the bars of mtn bike, breaks wrist. No rhythm guitar at the Gate... so instead runs all over the club. Should be back in time for the big blues show at JJ's. Added several new clubs to the calendar for the fall run... will check 'em out!
Starting to record new material for new demo and KFOX Last Band Standing. More to come....
